This Friday is the final release of a special collaboration I’ve been working on together with The Hundreds . Together with Canvas LA we will be showing a collection of work along with a special tribute to 5 of my greatest personal influences in tattooing. All are welcome to join and view how a few good men can influence and shape the generation and lives of us youngsters. Jose, your turn to pray for me. Thanks for your love and support.

URBAN INK

Friday, September 25th, 2009

A special thanks to Travellin’ Mick and Urban Ink Tattoo Magazine for the outstanding twelve page article on Jose Lopez and Lowrider Tattoo on their most recent issue featuring Busta Rhymes on the cover…

urban1

When you hear the name ‘Lowrider’ stereotypical images of a hardened or slick player may spring to mind- trust that Jose and Lowrider are anything but stereotypical…“

urban_2

“He looked at the work by his heroes-Paul Booth, Tony Olivias, Jack Rudy, even his old friend- Chuey Quintanar…armed with their advice…Lopez eventually mastered grey lining and light wash shading.”

Always a pleasure to be put out their, but never forget where you come from and who helped you get there. That is why every chance we get, we have to give our props to the people who helped us get where we are and so paved the way for us. Our debt to the difference makers can never be accounted for. Once again, thanks Mick!!

HOMEWARD BOUND IV

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

…With the Jose and Gus in London, our job back at home base in Fountain Valley is take charge of the construction of the new shop…We got a lot depending on us and even more deadlines…here’s another sneak peak…

new-fdesk

It takes a lot of hard work, sweat, and sacrifice, to work constantly at our goal. There is no clock out time for us, no complaining, no personal gain, and no strife…

new-jbooth

At times it feels suffocated because we are so blinded by our ambitions and work we forget about the ones we love and care for us…all we do is hope that they understand it’s all for a greater cause in the end. We all get one step closer

FIRST DAY IN LONDON

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Its been an hour after landing and we’re all real tired……can’t wait to get some rest in our room after check in.  But our boys Jamie and Alex took us around the city to check out some museums. To our surprise, there was a Mayan exhibit goin on…

jose-statue11

It was crazy, to see our cultural roots taking place and memorialized half way across the world…it got all of us amped up for what’s to come…

hanging-monkey2

Mark, like always, was being a little clown. Reminded me of the last time we were in Rome when he almost got arrested for stepping on the Trevi Fountain. Sometimes that guy needs a leash and muzzle..

Nice to see my bro Gustavo was examining and amazed by the level of detail on the Mayan carvings as well…. hope this will inspire him for the days to come.

MAMA AND PAPA DANGER

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Last night was one hell of a surprise for us at the shop, Mark Osuna aka “Danger” has been one of the most loyal friends and Lowrider Tattoo family member since the start. He’s travelled the world with Jose and the boys and has taken home numerous awards with the work on his body, but last night was a different story…Without his knowledge, his parents had come in for a visit, for his mom to get tattooed!

mama-danger-2

Jorge Servin was glad to step up to the challenge and tattoo some permanent beauty on Mama, an extended invitation to family, the parents were more than cool to kick it with, and it’s always a pleasure to be in good company. Which can’t always be said the same about Mark himself. jk!

Always a good time and never a dull moment here…We invite you to come join in.

QUEENS IN THE HOUSE

Friday, September 18th, 2009

This past week, Geovanny came in from Queens, New York to get some work done by Jose Lopez…It wasn’t an ordinary situation with a client, he came in several weeks earlier without calling and was bent on getting an appointment. That itself was enough determination for us to get him in…

jio11

Geovanny sat for an outstanding estimated 10 hour session…An extremely difficult piece indeed, Al Pachanka’s rendition of Christ our Savior is usually not something that can be completed within one session…We talked about life on both sides of the coasts, and it was more than a pleasure to hear from someone as proud of where they come from…just as much as we are…

jio2

With an upcoming trip to NY planned out for us, prepping ourselves with new clients from different walks of life have been keeping our minds on travel…Geovanny plans on coming out again to Cali and for now, we know our job has been done…

MAGIC SHOW 2009

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

The annual worldwide renowned fashion convention known as the Las Vegas’ Magic Show, recently took place, and some of the top players in the tattoo world came in to crash the party…Jose Lopez, Steve Soto, Franco Vescovi, and Latisha Wood, were all in attendance representing for Tribal Gear, doing what they do best and bringing to the show what the fashion world is trying to grasp…It was a pleasure to see our good friends as well from Dyse One, Jacob and Polo from Vinnie Styles NY, and notorious LA photographer Estevan Oriol

majic2

With the new seasonal line for Tribal, and the countless clothing lines around..standing out was more than just a goal, but opening the window of tattooing to new people and the world in general, is one of the main reasons why we love our job…

majic1

In Company with us besides the amazing artists and designers was our own Lowrider Family; Beto, Daniel, Shawn, and Mark, holding it down and representing to their finest…Enjoying vegas with all it had to offer with the little time they had to do so.

..With the London Tattoo Convention next week, our work and lives won’t stop another Vegas trip on the rise, Mario Barth’s Biggest Tattoo Show on Earth is one to shoot for the star for us in October…Stay tune and stay posted!
